Active Everywhere and Nasuni
Active Everywhere enables fast and reliable VPN-less access to Nasuni file services. Adding Active Everywhere to your Nasuni environment allows end users to access shared files from anywhere while ensuring that all file operations are synchronized across the entire end user base and that file locks are properly enforced to prevent data corruption.
The Primary Storage Agent connects to your cloud storage volumes via Nasuni Edge Appliances. The DFSN protocol used for communication between the Primary Storage Agent and the Nasuni Edge Appliances ensures resiliency and high availability.
End user Agents authentication is performed using Microsoft Entra ID or Okta, which allows leveraging existing user accounts and groups in Active Directory and provides a seamless user experience.
Benefits of using Active Everywhere with Nasuni include:
- High performance and reliability - Active Everywhere's ZGT protocol leverages peer to peer technology ensuring high speed data transfers and reliability.
- Ability to access volumes with billions of files - On-demand scanning fetches meta data of top-level file system items while the end user browses the Job folder. This reduces the volume of data required to serve files to all participating Agents.
- Synchronous locking - The Primary Storage Agent serves as a lock server to provide synchronous locking for files in the Job folder. This allows preventing data corruption when multiple end users access the same files either remotely or from the local network.
- Seamless user experience - End user Agents are authenticated via Microsoft Entra ID or Okta, leveraging existing user accounts and groups in Active Directory.
