Edit Profiles

You can modify Profiles assigned to Agents and Jobs to adjust Agents' behavior.

Important

Changing some of the parameters requires restarting the Agent or recreating the Job.

To modify an Agent or a Job Profile:

  1. Select Profiles.
  2. Find and select the Profile you want to modify, then click EDIT.
  3. Locate the parameter you want to change.
  4. Modify the value and take note of the Action required column.

    Profile Edit Restart Agent

    Action required

    • The required action can be either Restart Agent or Recreate Job and it's showed once, when you edit the value. Once you close and re-open the Profile, the Action required column will reset.
    • If you change the parameter back to its previous value without saving the Profile, no additional actions will be required.

    Deleting custom parameter

Deleting a custom parameter from a Profile might also require an action, even though the Management Console won't be able to communicate this.

  5. Click Save, then click Continue to acknowledge the required actions.

    Profile Edit Continue

  6. (Conditional) Perform required actions.

    • Restart Agent

      Note

In addition to being mentioned in the Profile, any Agents that need to be restarted will also display a Restart required status in the Agents list.

      Agents Restart Required

      Warning

      • While the Restart required status is active, the Agent won't display the Error status. To see the Agent's errors, open the Agent's details.
      • Restarting an Agent may take some time, especially if it is involved in Jobs that handle a large volume of files.

      To restart an Agent:

      1. Select Agents, then locate and click the Agent you want to restart.
      2. In the CONFIGURATION tab, click Restart.

      3. Click Continue to proceed.

      Info

For more information, see Restarting agents from Management Console.

    • Recreate Job

Changes to some of the parameters cannot be applied to a running Job. In such cases, you must recreate the Job in question.

      Parameters requiring Job recreation

Parameters that require recreating a Job include but are not limited to:

      • Ignore symlinks (ignore_symlinks)
      • Number of disk I/O threads (disk_worker_pool_size)
      • Max size of torrent block (torrent_max_piece_size)
      • Min size of torrent block (torrent_min_piece_size)
      • Synchronize extended file attributes (sync_extended_attributes)
      • Synchronize Posix permissions (posix_fs_acl_mode)
      • Synchronize NTFS permissions (windows_fs_acl_mode)

      Warning

It is strongly recommended to recreate the Job when prompted by a Profile update. Continuing to use the existing Job may lead to a Job failure. If the Profile update also requires an Agent restart, avoid restarting the Agent until the Job has been recreated.
