Removing Agents from Management Console and restoring removed Agents
Resilio Active Everywhere Management Console allows you to remotely disconnect an Agent and thus remove it from all of the Jobs it participates in.
Data retention in Resilio Active Everywhere pre-2.12
When removing an Agent from the Management Console, check the Data retention (when revoking access privileges) parameter in the Agent profile. If it is set to Permanently delete folder data from Agent, the data will be removed from the host without moving it to the archive or the operating system's trash. In Resilio Active Everywhere 2.12 and newer, files remain regardless of this setting.
Remove an Agent from Management Console
To disconnect an Agent from the Management Console:
- Select Agents.
- Locate and select the Agent you want to delete, then click DELETE.
- Click Continue to confirm.
What happens when an Agent is deleted from the Management Console
- The Agent's
client_tokenis erased from the Management Console's records and the Agent is no longer authorized to connect or participate in Jobs. - The Agent's ID and name are added to the blocked Agents database. The Agent won't be allowed to re-establish connection until you recover it.
- License - Removing the Agent frees one seat in your license.
- Jobs - The Agent is removed from any Jobs it was assigned to. If the removed Agent was the only source in a Distribution or Consolidation job, the Job Run will fail with the There are no source agents error. If reconnected, the Agent won't rejoin the Jobs it was previously assigned to unless it is automatically assigned to a group.
- Groups - The removed Agent is also unassigned from its groups. The Agent will rejoin a group if tag-based auto assignment is configured.

- Uninstall the Agent using the operating system's standard procedure for uninstalling applications.
- Delete its storage folder.
Recover a removed Agent
Note
Agent recovery is available in Resilio Active Everywhere 3.3 and newer. To reconnect an Agent on an older version, uninstall the Agent, clear its storage folder, then install the Agent and initiate a new connection. The Agent will generate a new identifier and connect as a new Agent with a different client_token.
Reinstalling won't help if the Identify agent by name option is enabled in the Management Console's Advanced settings. In that case, disable this option and then reconnect the Agent.
Tip
If you removed an Agent and it is not connecting anymore, or reinstalling the Agent is not a feasible option for your workflow, contact the Resilio support team for assistance.
Prerequisites
A Super Administrator or Administrator user role is required to recover a removed Agent.
To recover a removed Agent:
- Select Settings > Removed Agents.
-
Select the Agent you want to recover and click Recover.
-
Click Continue to confirm.
-
Restart the Agent service on the host running the Agent to reconnect it to the Management Console.
-
(Conditional) Approve the pending Agent connection request if the Agent doesn't use the configuration file or if the bootstrap token in the Agent's configuration file is invalid.
Declining Agent connection request
If you decline the Agent connection request, the Agent will be permanently disallowed from connecting. The only way to allow it to connect again is to reinstall the Agent.
